Richard Airlie - Chateauguay
High School - At least that's how I remember it. My best memories were usually leaving it each day, but I do
remember the dedication ceremony and laying the cornerstone, which was almost cemented in upside
down. (1961)
I have been in Niagara for the last 5 years, working for a helicopter manufacturer. After finally
graduating in 1965, I went to enlist in the AirForce. They couldn't guarantee me that I would be a
pilot, so I enrolled at Sir George Williams University and later Loyola to follow my studies in
Marketing.
However, my dream was to fly, so I abandoned university for flight school. Learned to fly
helicopters, which I have been doing ever since. Based in Montreal (Mont St-Hilaire), I worked for 23
years throughout Canada and parts of the US. Moved to St Catharines Ontario in 1996 to join Eurocopter
Canada. No snow to speak of, so not much skiing. Traded the snowblower for a better bicycle, and
now I can cycle 12 months a year.
2 Children (25 and 20), 1 spouse (can't say).
